Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences |
microbiologist。He is currently a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Wuhan University。He is mainly engaged in the biochemical and molecular biology research of actinomycetes genetics and antibiotic biosynthesis。He is currently the director of the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and the chief scientist of the "973" project。In 2004, he was named "Changjiang Scholar" special Professor of the Ministry of Education, in 2008, he won the National May Day Labor Medal, and in 2010, he was named the national Advanced worker。He has made systematic and important research achievements in the molecular biology of Streptomyces plasmid and bacteriophage, the regulation, restriction and modification system of DNA replication, microbial metabolic pathways, metabolic engineering and the innovation of biological agricultural (medical) drugs。In particular, sulfur modification was found for the first time on the DNA of many bacteria, which was the first physiological modification found on the DNA skeleton, opening up the whole new scientific field of DNA sulfur modification。
